A Lot of Firsts for Macey

Macey has had a lot of firsts this past month.  We enrolled her in a ballet class at the same dance studio Micah and Jewelia dance at, and she dressed up all pretty to go,

But when we got there and it was time to go in, she was too afraid and cried.

Macey has somewhat struggled this summer.  While she used to go to church class or friend's houses without any problems, now all of the sudden she was terrified of being left.  For several months she would not go into her church class alone.  Troy enjoyed many many Sunbeam lessons.

We tried shoving her in and shutting the door, but it was beyond an "act" and she was really just freaking out.  We thought, maybe if we talked up dance class all summer that by the time it started she would be excited and want to go, and then maybe that could help her be on her own and think she could go to church class on her own again.

Well, it didn't work.  So, we cancelled the dance class and looked into Preschool.

As Preschool time grew nearer, Macey started opening up once again and not being so afraid.  She actually began going to her church class on her own for a couple of weeks.
The first day of Preschool came and she was excited!

Although she doesn't look too excited when I tried to take her picture in class:

She had a great day and didn't worry a bit!
She liked that she was in the "Yellow Room" because it was her favorite color!

So, we decided to try dance yet again.  This time we found a different class, just a local community ed dance class that wasn't that big and didn't make them perform on stage.  Jewelia went to this dance class as her first dance class when she was almost 4.

Macey was excited once again to dress up in her pretty dance clothes.  But would she go in this time?

She did!  She seemed a little "lost" during the class time, but she did it and seemed to like it.

She wasn't so sure what she should be doing with her feet and arms....

But she watched her teacher and tried to copy her actions.

She even learned a little dance and how to bow.
Maybe she'll figure things out....

We're so glad she is back to normal once again.  Well, as normal as little Macey can be! ;)

Child Slave Labor

Look at what we've got here!  Yep, we must be pretty lazy since we have incorporated all of our kids to make us dinner now while Troy and I sit on the couch.

Our family tradition is that we have breakfast for dinner every Saturday night.  It's not really a tradition that we had passed down from anyone, but rather something we just started doing a few years ago.  I think it was just easiest thing to make since I work every Saturday morning until about 5 pm.

We mix it up a bit.  Sometimes we have pancakes, sometimes waffles, other times bacon egg and cheese biscuits, once in a while french toast.  It used to be Troy always made the pancakes and I made the eggs, but then I got lazy and taught Micah how to make scrambled eggs.  This worked actually because then Troy would make pancakes, Micah eggs, and then I would make hashbrowns.
Well, I guess Troy decided he should get to be lazy too and so now we have our kids doing all the work.  Micah is still master of the eggs (although I have to remind him I don't like brown eggs), Jewelia has taken over my hashbrowns, and Caleb likes to control the pancakes.  Macey likes to set the table.

Yep, we are pretty lucky here.  "Go make us dinner kids!" We say.  Yep.  We live the good life.
