Church Play

A few months ago we were volunteered to be in a church play. Finally this past Saturday we got to perform it.

It was a very interesting play. Very corny.

As you can see, the kids and I were all jungle warriors. They thought it was fun. Troy was a jungle warrior too, but I didn't get his picture.

Troy was also some nerdy guy who was auditioning for a part, but he wouldn't let me take his picture in that outfit either. He said he didn't want to remember looking dorky.

Macey liked to go "RAW!"

Yes, aren't I lovely?

Jewelia can make some pretty scary faces.

And Caleb, well, his faces are always pretty weird.

Happy Birthday Jewelia!

This past Friday, May 6th, was Jewelia's birthday!

Jewelia was pretty lucky because her birthday has been an extended event.

A week before her birthday, she got to have her first real "friends" birthday party.
We thought it was going to be so much calmer and controlled than the parties we've had with the boys in the past, but boy were we wrong!

Well, I guess it started out all nice and cute. She had a "Princess Party" where all the girls were to dress up like princesses. We had planned to make jewelry, eat pizza, decorate cupcakes, and then maybe open presents and play some games. It worked out until they started the cupcakes, and then the girls were calm no more!!!

I wanted to get a nice picture of all the girls in their princess dresses, but by this time half of them were either fighting over a chair or screaming at the top of their lungs.

Luckily there was only a half hour left and we tried to open presents without so much chaos, but I can't say we had much success.

All that mattered was that Jewelia had fun, and we got to see all these girls who she plays with at school, although most of them were like 2 feet taller!

We celebrated Jewelia's birthday with family the day after her birthday, and she got to open her family gifts.

I made her a beautiful cake of unicorns and rainbows.

Her main present was a new bicycle! She's never had a bike besides tricycles and little junky good will preschool bikes, so this was her first real big girl bike. It doesn't look like she will have much time before she grows out of it, but we kept the size small so she would be able to touch the ground when we take the training wheels off to hopefully teach her how to ride a 2 wheeler by the end of summer. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for all those who remembered Jewelia's birthday and helped to make it special!

Oh, yeah, how old is she now?

That's right, 6 years old!

Projects

So, lately, I've been fixing up a bit of things, or rather "decorating" to fix things.

We have a white cabinet thing in our bathroom that isn't super fancy, but the back part of it was starting to look old and stained and some of it had gotten wet so it was all gross looking.

Well, I went to the stores to see how expensive it would be to replace and it was not cheap at all, so I decided to take a different route. I couldn't afford to replace it, but I could afford to "hide" its flaws.

I got out some pink paint and painted over the water stains and then to hide the water spots on the back board I decided to paint little flowers on top of all the stains so you could not tell.

Ha haa! Look at that! Nothing fancy, but it looks all cute and you can't tell it's old and waterlogged!

Then, I thought our living room wall was kind of bare on the sides, so I had some fun hanging up some 5 by 7 pictures and creating some vinyl words to go along with them:

I don't know if you can tell what this all says unless maybe you click on the picture above, but anyway, it says "Love, Laugh, Sing, Dance, Play, Dream, Inspire". I put the words next to pictures relating to the words. I think it's different. It makes you look. It was fun anyway.
