Caleb Our Little Mozart

Yes, we still love our little Caleb.
It's been a while since we've posted about little Caleb. He is such a cutie! He was always wanting to play piano songs for our blog and we didn't want it to look like all our posts were always about him, so that is why we created his own piano playing blog.
(It's good encouragement to make him practice too!)

Anyway, he has been doing so well with his piano, that I just had to post a little video on our family blog of his latest song. This is the best I've heard him on this particular song, and we are really very proud. Remember he taught himself to play and doesn't have a piano teacher. I just go out and buy the piano books and he reads through them and plays.

He's even started writing his own music! Just today he showed me a song he entitled "Whistles" that he's got all written out on green construction paper that he plays.

Here's him playing one of Mozart's pieces:

Oh, and he's saying "Thanks Debbie" to our friend Debbie who showed him a particular sharp he was mixing up to make one of the chords sound better than he had been playing. (If he has any trouble we rely on the help of another--I don't know anything!)

Oh, and please anyone that wants to stop by Caleb's blog every now and then and leave him a comment, it really helps motivate him to play!

Micah Competes in the Pinewood Derby

Tonight Micah participated in the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby. His car was named "The Green Ghost". With a little help from Daddy and Uncle Michael on the shaping and shaving, and a little help from Mommy on the painting and weight installation, he did pretty well.

Here is a picture from his first race where as you can see, his car is in the lead:

He ended up winning 3 out of 4 races and came in 2nd in the 4th one. He was very happy, and had a great time. His car was awarded "Scariest Car".

Here is a video of one of his winning races:

"Because I Love Daddy"

Troy is pretty lucky. Yep.

Jewelia got this Tinkerbell locket for Christmas and she told me she wanted to put pictures in it. I asked what pictures she wanted and she said, "I want one of me, and one of Daddy, because I love him."

So, sure, no picture of me, but it's OK. I think it is sweet that she loves her daddy and wants to have a picture of him with her all the time.

Messy Macey

I've noticed that I really haven't blogged about Macey for a while, and so I thought I'd show everyone how big she is getting and some of her silly personality.

She is now 14 months old and into everything. She is quite the messy child whether it's destroying a room one minute, or making a mess of herself at mealtime.

I like the top picture because it can really give you a good look at the color of her eyes and hair now. Although she was born with such dark brunette hair, I am sad to see her daddy's traits fading away and new light copper color coming through. It will be interesting to see what it ends up being.

She is her own little self. She is not much of a talker (well, at least not anything we can understand) but we know she understands everything. She does like to copy her brothers and sisters and Uncle Nathan. Here are a couple videos of her in action:

Happy Birthday Micah!!!

Happy Birthday yesterday to our cute Micah!!! He turned the big 9! He is soo sooo old now!!!
He had a sort of Star Wars themed birthday because he wanted a Star Wars cake, particularly a Tie Fighter.

So, I'm not any expert on anything Star Wars, but I looked up Tie Fighter on the internet, and it was this space ship thing that hopefully looked a little like this:

He got some fun presents and lots of cards from everybody (thank you!), and I think his birthday was a success!

Caleb and Jewelia made him a pretty banner for the party:

My little Micah boy! Is he really 9 years old? Has it really been 7 years since we moved into this house? He has gotten so big and tall. We made an agreement that he can have his own room when he is taller than Mommy. We will see how long that will take.

I came across an old movie on the computer from when we first moved in of Micah:

He's saying his name is "Mocka Spoot" and he is 2 years old.

We're Famous!

So, here we are. We are famous. Nothing too big, but our family is featured in the Associated Food Stores "Fresh Ideas" Magazine/Recipe/Ad thing (whatever it is, I'm not sure how to explain it). It is 12 page little magazine thing that is sent to all over Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and then some parts of Colorado, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona. So, if you guys happen to see this in your mailbox, or if you shop at any of the stores, then you can see us. Or, if you go to www.cookingwithangel.com and click on Fresh Ideas you can see it. Or just click here.

It's just a cute little insert booklet that features different recipes and meal ideas, and then advertises a little of what is on sale for the month. They wanted to feature a family and then ask different questions. If you click on this you can read what it says. I think I said all this, but there is one added thing that I would like to correct. The bottom question says something about lasagna and cooking it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Now, you could do that, but you're going to have some crunchy lasagna. Really it should be an hour.

Micah was funny telling me how he was worried people were going to try to make lasagna and then be all mad at our family when it was raw. I guess I wrote a lot and our questions got a little summarized, and I don't remember going into detail about how exactly to cook our lasagna, but just know---lasagna with dry noodles has got to cook longer than 30 minutes.

There, I'm making Micah feel better already. Our family won't get toilet papered now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! We celebrated the ringing in of the new year at a party at our neighbor's house. Everyone got to be all decked out with party hats and masks. Jewelia enjoyed that part. We ate lots of food and the kids and Troy got to play the Wii for the first time. They were loving it.

Just so you see that Troy and I are still alive after all of our sicknesses, here is a picture Caleb took of us:

Here is our family picture at the end of the party after all the shouting, horn blowing and fireworks. Yep, not a single kid fell asleep. Our kids were wired!

Here's to a happy and great 2009!!!
