Flood Disaster!
We are in a complete mess downstairs right now! We may live in a desert state, but the weather doesn't agree lately. It has been raining straight for almost 2 months now! Well, OK, I may be exaggerating a little, but it has rained at least a little bit almost every day in the last month.
Anyway, about 3 weeks ago we noticed the floor really wet down in Micah's room. I freaked out since this was our brand new carpet, but we pulled it back and I soaked it up, dried it with fans for a few days, and it was back and good as new.
We couldn't figure out where the water came from that time. We checked everything out and just figured it was a weird thing from the rain storm, or later we found the hose on the house outside above his window wasn't screwed on tightly enough, and maybe we had flooded after using the hose for a bit.
Anyway, sometime yesterday during yet ANOTHER downpour of rain and hail (Come on now, it's almost JUNE!!!!) Micah's room became flooded.
We didn't find it until later today, and this time it was BAD! Water was soaked through out at least half of the room. We had to move furniture and shove as fast as we could.....this time the pad underneath was so completely soaked that it could not be salvaged. I just began ripping and throwing, trying to stop this water.
But where was it coming from!????!!!
After ripping the pad half out and gone (and soaking soaking wet) I find the water is mostly located around this earthquake like crack in the foundation of our floor. Well, I rather should say cracks plural. There were like 3 long cracks splitting across the room. You can see how the water was concentrated mostly down the center. Here is a picture about 10 hours after we have been soaking up water, towel drying, and fan drying:

Oh, it is awful! We'll have to rip out all the carpet at least to put in a new pad. We'll have to buy another pad. And carpet? I don't know if it can be saved. We borrowed a shop vac from the neighbors and Troy has been sucking the water out of it for the last few hours.
Seriously, this day has been just awful! I don't know where the water is coming from. It's not from the window well, not from the wall, not from a downspout. It's as if it came from below, or I guess I'm really not sure. We have no water pipes downstairs anywhere close by. It all just sucks! It's ruined everything! Micah's room is all a disaster, and now he is sleeping upstairs on the floor of Caleb's room.
Well, anyway. I'm pretty upset about everything and don't know what we are going to do now. Hopefully someone is going to come over on Monday and look at it and tell us what they think we can do. I just hope it isn't too bad and expensive to be fixed. Or rather, I hope that it CAN be fixed. But really, how can we know for sure where and how the water is getting in and how can we prevent it?So, yeah, it might be awhile until I post another post, being my depressing life and all....

That is awful Becca! I hope that you can find where the leak is coming from and can get it fixed. Does insurance cover stuff like this? Ugh. I wish I could be more help. Is it going to be a problem with Cameron coming around?
That is what is home owners insurance is for. Have you called your insurance company???
I know is stinks to have floods.
Good Luck.
I'm so sorry Becca! How horrible. I hope you get things figured out and fixed soon
