Happy 8th Birthday Caleb!

Silly Caleb---here he is the "Birthday King". We celebrated Caleb's 8th birthday Monday. He is such the poser, but in weird ways.

Caleb had a most wonderful birthday! Here he is all ready for his party with family.

What is that, you say? What is that most awesome creation that you see? Well, it has to be the most awesome cake I have ever made!
Here, look closer!

Yes, Caleb wanted a piano cake, so I went all out. Aren't I skilled?

Caleb's brother and sisters were pretty excited about the party.

The piano cake was somewhat flammable the way I built it, so I also made an "eighth notes" cake that we could put the candles in.

Make a wish!

As you can see, we were sort of on a musically themed birthday here. Caleb was wanting an alarm clock and I found this awesome piano alarm clock off of ebay that the keys actually move and it plays really loud to wake you up.

Caleb still loves maps and atlases. Yes, that is the map section from the yellow pages you see above. How exciting. He got some road maps and some cub scout stuff from his brother (8=cub scouts). He got some nice cards and some money from his Grandma and Grandpa.

Some of Caleb's grandparents came to the party and his great grandparents and they brought fun presents too.

Caleb built a cool helicopter out of legos.

Of course, this was not it, for the big surprise was that we had made it possible for him to go downtown to play the piano at this big fancy restaurant that has this big plexiglass grand piano. Ever since we went there a couple of years ago for our anniversary and had told Caleb about it, he has said how all he wanted was to play the piano at the Roof when he grew up.

Well, we made it happen a little sooner.
Here he is arriving at the restaurant:

How excited he was to sit and play in the restaurant on this super cool piano!

He absolutely loved it! He played around 10 songs and they sang happy birthday to him and everything. They were so nice!

We are so happy for our little Caleb. What an awesome little man he is becoming!
Thank you to all who made this a wonderful day for him!
